RE: Editors Note on Herald rude?

There are certain threads on the Herald when the Editor has needed to step in and slow postings down. Take for example the one child who ran over a much younger sibling in a farm related situation.

Now, that being said, I have offered to purchase them a recorder in an effort to assist with stories I know were ????. This is because I was sitting in the same room as the reporter and and using a recording device. What I read in the Herald was soooo not the way events and statements took place, I wondered if people really put stock into what they read. Even when they are submitted the corrections, they repeat the same idiot articles in the Plainsman a week later.

Now they do have a certain reporter that has writen some strange thoughts of their own for all of us to see. Many people have posted about how off the wall this reporter's thoughts can be and at times - the facts. We have been told, when we correct the reporter, so what if the facts are off a bit...

Just try to stay out of the Herald's line of sight and hope you don't wind up in an article. They do a pretty darn good on their ads though.

sounds like most printed media,

they always get the last laugh, and if someone really calls them out or shows them up...

we'll they just censor it...

LOL,

sounds like the editor is a self indulgent dweeb...

This Herald has done this.  And when you get in their face, no difference.  Of Course the Williston Hearld is rude, especially if the story does not pat them on the back.   They called my office one day to make something out of nothing,  at that time I said, " Come to my office  - face to face,  and I will reply, of course a no show."  And now you can not trust the Jacob and Nick to really do the right thing.    It is called ratings, which I have not applied to, since the day of a no show from the Williston Herald 25 years ago.  I have read and watch Nick and Jacob since County and City Meetings - They report what they want. Don't waste your energy on this paper, Not worth it.  I figure it is just their way of spreading gossip and putting it out there to shut people up.  I just no longer care...They have taken to many of my Hours away from me from there - judgemental reporting.  Don't loose any sleep over that Paper.  And again this is MY OPINION ONLY.

So I have to question WHY on my post when i misspelled a word, the editor found it necessary to downgrade me by using my misspelling in quotation marks to answer me.  Did anyone else catch this ?  What was the purpose?  No wonder people on there don't use their real names.  I feel like he made me look like an idiot that can't spell.  Am I wrong to find it rude ?

Sorry you were offended, but it's not rude. This is how journalists quote people all the time. It may have been nice to fix your spelling error when the editor replied, but then he/she wouldn't have been quoting you.

Nah..he was quoting to be a dick

I don't read the Herald half as much as I used to.  It sickens me to be completely honest with you.  There's a lot of hating "I know more than you" people in this town.  I'm not a hater, but I do tend to be an "I know more than you" every now and then.  I'm trying to do better though, as you guys may have noticed from my lack of posts here. biggrin

Im the one that put the post about the grammar police. Yes kind of unprofessional, maybe they are getting burned out, like I am!

I have noticed quite a few rude comments from the Herald editor lately. Maybe they are just fed up with everything, but it just seems to me that even some of the articles and comments are putting down local people

I didnt see it, what was it about? Ive noticed the herald has been doing alot of different things lately. I tried to write a comment under the when to plow story, about how the herald should follow up on it and go talk to the city and see what the hold up is, but it didnt get posted. Im thinking they dont like to be told how to do their jobs!
