Alot of people drive in the left lane due to sand trucks turning right on gravel roads. No excuse, but the traffic is something else. Alot of trucks have on the back of their vehicles: Honk and I will pull over for you to pass. I get angry when I stop at cross walks for people and the cars zoom pass me and dang neer hit the people I stop for. And in one week - I know of 4 people that got DUI's. Williston is not that big - walk and don't kill anyone because you know you can drink and drive. Don't screw up your insurance - job - and life. Get a Taxi. And now I vented.
How about trucks, RV's, elderly, etc that don't pull over when there is a train of vehicles behind them on a 2 lane road. I know ND doesn't make that law, but some states do.
It's more of a common sense thing. Drives me crazy sometimes.

It is the law that the vehicle to the right has the right of way no matter who entered the intersection first. This is for the safety of the driver.
North Dakota does not have any law when it comes to which lane you have to drive in on the highway, nor does it have a minimum speed you have to drive. Minnesota does however.
Lol...oh Clarke...don't even get me started. I was a road rager when I left Fargo and moved back this way.
You hit some good points. When I think..."the right is always right" I'm not just thinking about politics. This is certainly true in regards to driving. However, I believe that to be more etiquette than law.
I don't believe there are any laws pertaining to which side of the lane someone is driving in either. But there is certainly driving etiquette there that would think one should stay out of the "passing lane" when on the highway. Heck...if you really think about it...if all slow people stayed in the left lane, the faster people would never have to move over.
It's been a long, long time since I had drivers ed so I could be wrong about the laws. But it seems to me these are more driver etiquette "laws" than anything.
Next episode we'll talk about the people that are barely creeping up on me on the highway that can plainly see I'm about to creep up on another slower driver yet the faster vehicle refuses to speed up just enough so I don't have to hit my freakin' brakes and have to reset my cruise control. UUGGGHHH!!!

OK so as some/most of you know I grew up in the Great country to the north...and I learned to drive and took driver's ed up there. As far as I know most of the same rules apply here as applied there. Couple questions....
At an unmarked intersection, the vehicle on the right has the right of way...not the vehicle that necessarily arrived there first...correct? Why is this so hard to understand and please correct me if this isn't the law in ND?
Also...on a 4 lane highway like highway 2....why drive in the left lane unless you are passing or turning left? Recently I have had numerous issues with people driving in the left lane and me having to pass on the right side. In one of these situations the guy actually flipped me off as I passed...thanks Wyoming plated oilfield pickup.....either get going? or get in the right lane!!
Thanks for the venting...and please correct me if I am wrong! Clarkie
