Sue, You are correct, there are some Jacobsons from the Crosby area. They are not related to us. You are also right about Betty, she does seem to know everyone. She has been employed with the telephone company for many years and very active in Our Redeemers Church. I believe over the years she has met a number of people through both. Betty told me today that has always enjoyed visiting with you. Toni Jacobson
Thank you Toni, I enjoyed meeting you also. I know Betty from Nemont. I really did not know her family. She is a dear. I had thought the name Jacobson was a Crosby name. That just sticks with me for some reason. So many family names around here. Betty just seems to be everywhere and know everyone.

Sue, You did not upset me at all. As I said in my previous post I thought it was very nice of you to welcome us at the library and to show your support for Paul. Betty mentioned to me that you used to work for Nemont. What a great crew they have working there. I am sure you fit right in and enjoyed your time with that company. Have a nice day and I look forward to visiting with you again. Toni Jacobson
Once again, I am very sorry for upsetting your family. I can appreciate how hard you all work and I did not post anything the spirit of ill will. I adore your sister Betty. I did not realize you were sisters. I only wish you well.

Hi Sue, My sister Betty and I were at the library and of course so was my husband. I remember you walking up to me and telling me how happy you were that Paul was running for Northwest District Judge. How nice of you to welcome us and show your support for my husband. Paul and I do own our home here in Williston, I have lived here all of my life. Paul went to grade school here "Lewis and Clark" and also Williston High School. Paul's father was the manager of our telephone company for many years. He considers this home and Williston a great place to live and to raise a family. Now we have our grand children here so we have many wonderful reasons to continue to want to live in this area. Please feel free to Google Paul and read his many interesting court cases and learn more about him. Thank you, Toni Jacobson
Sorry to tell you this but you have been misinformed...you said That Paul Jacobson is not from around here...well he is my uncle and I can tell you he has lived here for many many years! He works in Bismarck during the week and is here every weekend...His wife and son both live here and have never moved away...so please find out the facts first before you write false information. I prefer to vote for someone who actually has years of law experience under his belt than someone in their 30s...especially a position as District Judge...not saying there is anything wrong with Josh..he is a good guy too but I feel he is a little young and inexperienced for this big of a position...but that is just my opinion and I am a little biased as Paul is my uncle!

Let's talk about the candidates in the local races. I don't want to discuss who each of you are voting for, I want to discuss what they represent and why they would be a good choice...and NOT a bad choice.
City Commission President
Ward Koeser versus Sue Evans Koeser obviously holds the edge due to experience at the postition. However, I have been intrigued by Evans ability to research facts on some very important issues and have been very grateful to have her post her thoughts, ideas, and opinions on our message board.
Sue has made a valiant effort in this race but if it doesn't go her way, I hope she continues to be a watch-person for us to keep our elected officials on their toes.
I won't comment on the President of City Commission/Mayor office. I assume you all understand where I would place my opinions here.
City Commission
Bogar, Lawson, Cymbaluk I have a feeling we may see name recognition come into play on this one. Not sure which will be the odd man out as a result. No one has asked Tate if he's worried that he may someday get tossed from his post the same way Ritter did considering the similarities in profession. I could be wrong and people may sway toward keeping experience in place considering we are in very critical times and should be careful of making too many changes. My crystal ball has Lawson as the odd man out on this one.
This is difficult here. Lawson does have a grasp on the fact that Federal funding comes with strings attached. This is vital in voting for programs that allow for accepting these funds. Bogar has the knowledge we need from the banking industry.
School Board
Brokaw, Egge, Olson, Parkinson This one is difficult for me as I haven't paid much attention to the current issues (other than peanut butter and student body count) and what each one represents. I could really use some insight from you guys on this race.
Olson is quite new. She has had some controversy. I do think she has had some good ideas also, and at least was brave enough to announce a platform and talk to the people at the open forum.
District Judge
Rustad versus Jacobson Clueless. Anyone? Why is one better than the other? I know Josh personally, great guy. Other than that...no idea. HELP!!!
I don't know about keeping the position in the family, that being said, Jacobson is really not from around here. Who would be best to stand in judgement of those from our community?
Park Board
Slette, Callahan, Owens, Wilt I have strong personal feelings on this one, however I will not include that here. I was a bit bummed that Skarpohl wasn't running again but I had a good talk with him about it and I understand why he chose not to. I think people will see Slette as a sure thing. The connection to the hockey program is key for him in this race. The things Slette, Owens, and Wilt have that Callahan doesn't is children that use the facilities and participate in the programs, as well as the fact that they have all lived in Williston much longer than Callahan. However, Callahan seems to have more energy and time to handle a dozen tasks at once. The playground could provide enough name recognition for Callahan to get it done.
Owens is new (not to the community) but I think would serve well. He sounds dedicated and conservative. Callahan has been around (beyond Williston). He has a lot of new ideas that could be brought to the city. Slette is himself and I saw him with his hat off.
My crystal ball says Slette, Callahan, and Wilt in this race. I just hope being Chamber president, Williston Area Builders member (or president, not sure), Community Builders board member, and any other things he has going doesn't affect Callahans ability as a Park Board Commissioner.
So now it's your turn. Why would any of the above be worthy of my vote? Am I wrong on any of my comments? Let's hear your thoughts.
