I know every August we have a wasp problem. I rarely see bees. I had thought they were having issues with disease and decreased population.
I would still like to look into alternate ways. They have bug zappers that can send the remains up to 10 feet away. ICK. Candles, magnets of sorts that attract and trap but can take up to 6 wks to work. Chemicals that have killed many bats and birds. Home foggers that make everything sticky, and of course the ever famous avon SSS.
I think it would be worth a try to have a more natural product sold. Something more than chemicals. We live in an area with a lot of auto immune disease. Lupus and MS are heavy here. Just another take on switching to less chemical when possible. At least an option for the private sector.

I am with you on that one Steve. It is really sad when we are out at Lewis and Clark and not one mosquito and once we come we are attacked by them. Sue-I think I know what you are talking about. The only problem I had with the mixture was that it attracted bees. Got rid of the mosquitos for a day or 2.
We actually have a couple men in town with a sprinkler company that have a non toxic solution. They did the research. It is so NEAT. They told me about the product they want to sell. It has been done across the country. Items found in our cupboards. Can be put in our sprinkler systems and sounds like it would be worth a try. Better than choking on the back yard fogger. It would stay low on the grass and be excellent. The problem, they already tried to get permission to sell within our city and were turned down. It is actually mostly spices and organic. I would have liked to been able to try it.
I have made my own from a mixture I learned on prairie public. But mine is more for spiders, ants and aphids.
I wish we could have these choices.

We need a mosquito repellent company to come and build a research and development plant as well as a repellent manufacturing plant here. Although I don't know if we have the right resources for the ingredients of the repellent close enough to make manufacturing cost effective.
