RE: HR3692 Health Care Bill

Thank You Jib.  This man is writing another book on Land, Enviroment, Oil, and Animals.  He has traveled from Alaska oil areas, to Canada's Oil areas and now to North Dakota.  He says in his books he has geology, ecology, and geography degrees.  He wants to experience the Missouri River and fishing for Walleye.  I stopped into Scenic Sports today.  I don't even own a boat, so am looking into hiring a guide.  I know this is God playing a joke on me.no

I've met my fair share of folks living in Williams Country that are angry and/or looking for a handout.

Randy it will never happen.   This country is so divided.  There is no middle ground anymore.   I have been watching twitter on certain subjects.  And I can only say, Whow.  My sister asked me, "Why do you live in North Dakota"?  I avoid bigger cities at any cost,  they are very angry people out there.  And most of them expect, "hand out's".  And the RADICAL'S on both sides are in Charge of our Government.no

As a man who thoroughly enjoys good coffee, I have to say that Timmy's coffee is much better than the drip you get at Starbucks... but it doesn't take much.smile

Yeah...Tim Horton's is kinda like their version of starbucks...plus some....

I have visited a number of them....and when in Canada, I look for them pretty much like I look for Starbucks when I am in a place with some avante'garde' hoitsy toitsy, yuppie type establishmets...I just go for the plain black coffee with no room for cream....

...although the common man patronizes them as well....

It's arguably the best fast food establishment in North America. Regular sized sandwiches, fantastic doughnuts, and good coffee. If you ask a true Canadian, they will say IT IS the best fast food establishment in the world. I think Canadians have more national pride towards Timmy's than anything else.biggrin

I find this an absolutely ironic post on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Imagine what this country would be like if MLK followed your advice and "Quit messing with this COUNTRY."

I love the USA, but I love my wife more which is why I am moving to Canada. I'm not moving there to take advantage of their healthcare system, their fabulous doughnuts, or their superior chocolate. Perks are nice though!

The congressmen and women trying to pass a health care bill would rather not be having meetings behind closed doors, but they are forced to do so due to the agenda of many republicans who have voiced their goal is to completely derail a modernized health care bill.

For your information, at the time Bush declared war, I voted for Dorgan.  If I remember correctly, that "war" was voted on by Republican's and Democrate's.  Not JUST one party behind closed doors.  Also since you are apparently moving to Canada, will you be sending a percentage back to the "American's"  for Healthcare, that you want me to give to?  You seem to be talking out of both sides of your mouth, but so does President Obama.

The current members of congress ask you for money so that more Americans can get access to healthcare, and you say, "NO!!".

George Bush, and the republican congress asks you for money to go to an endless "war" on a foreign soil, for reasons we all will probably never understand, and you say, "He** yeah!!".

God bless America...disbelief

I can not believe how ugly this has become.  Behind close doors, no C-Span - no Transparisity.  Only Deals and more deals - Union's.  Chicago Deal's that is what we are getting....How is all that wonderful change working for you.  When Dorgan wrote and ask for MONEY for the Democrate's, I wrote him back and said for him and the Democrate to NEVER ask anything more from me.  I am only angry for the first time I can not VOTE against him, he quit.

No, not in Canada yet. I'm still waiting for my immigration paperwork to go through. It's looking like late spring is when I'll be moving. We're moving to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, so yes it does get cold. It will be like living back in Williston weather wise. cry

Maybe, just maybe,  it would help us trust them a little more. Maybe they won't dupe us again.  They would be on the same plan and they are pretty careful and good looking out for their own behinds.

Are you in Canada Jibslider?  If so, does it get cold and alot of snow in your area where you moved to?  Just curious.  That's all.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL..ENJOY AND GOD BLESS.

Why should the congressmen have to go on the proposed public option? The bill allows anyone to keep their chosen insurance, even senators.

True Randy.  But why won't the Senator's and Congressman go on the same plan?  Why do they get their own Health Insurance and get it for a lifetime, even after out of office? Why are we expected to pick up the slack when they are not willing to give up anything?  They want us to suck it up and accept their plans without giving up anything themselves.  When you call them or write them, they do not really answer your questions.  How do you make plans for the next years business, when you are going to get hit with something you do not know anything about?  My answer at the moment is to scale way back, then you can jump ship, with the least amount of damage to your personal finances.

I love this country. We are collectively, without successful argument from anyone, anywhere, the most giving, and caring nation on the face of this earth.

I have no doubt, that Jibslider, one of the most vociferous writers on this page, will not argue that. While, if I recall, Jib is making the move to Canada, I still believe he too loves this country.

I do NOT want to seem like I am a party to ganging up on him, or anyone else who disagrees with my opinion, and hope he does not see my comments as such. We both (along with all the other readers and writers on this site) have great passion for our perspectives, and rightly so, since this is the very thing that helps to make this such a great country.

The debate and discussion serves the dual purpose of allowing us to vent our frustration through civil conversations, while at the same time hopefully persuading others of the rightness of our positions.

This Health Care Bill which has just passed the House is a perfect example of that. Ultimately, we all will accept the results and outcomes of the Health Care Reform Issue, as good Americans (US), whether or not we individually agree with it, and with the great resiliency that is characteristic of our citizens, will adapt.

That's the way it is.  A big part of my problem with the current Bill is that we simply do NOT know what has been passed. I cannot even argue with Jib from a knowledgeable standpoint because I am not even sure just what the actual law is,just bits and pieces. I am still hoping, that somebody is going to prepare a simple, plain, factual statement, in English, explaining to my simple mind, exactly what it is that is fixing to become the law of the land.

At worst, we are communicating, and at best, we are making a difference....

Have to agree with Dakotadj and Randy Waitman on this.   On the Borders, Private Landowners have to deal with Squatter's.  And their destruction of Private Land.  But they are to put up with it and then supply them with Health Insurance.

Small business are to supply Worker's Comp., Health Insurance and Health Insurance for their families, or your fined.  Why have a business?  Then you deal with every other agency from OSHA to Job Service to Payroll Taxes.  It becomes a little overwhelming at times.  And if payments don't come in time - you have to get a Loan to make Payroll.  This Health Care will kill Small Businesses.

I am waiting to see what the result's are.  Our business will stay open or shut it door's.  Then I will live off the system.

What are we to do with everyone else?  Show them the way home.  Illegals are just that.  People who do not have insurance, grow up, and get a job.  Pay your own way. Quit expecting hand out's.  If you would rather drink, take drug's, or just go to school, as  many do and take advantage of the system, to dang bad.

If the other things are not corrected... Heath Care Bill is just another Bill.

1. have E-verify, where you MUST be a US citizen or "legal green card" to get a Job
2. Take the jobs away, the people will go away. "Self Deport"
3. The ones here illegally can go back to country of origin and "reapply" for LEGAL jobs through the Agricultural Dept.
4. If item three is broke 'FIX IT"
5. NO "government support" for Obama care  if your in this country illegally" (they will still get serviced at ER Rooms, we know that !
6. Deport illegals arrested for crimes commited in America. ALL CRIMES !
7. Ensure companies who hire illegals pay a SEVERE Fine the company officals and or management serve time.

What do you do with the folks that are already here? Also, see the same question I posed to dakotadj. What is the solution for those that are already here, or those that can find methods of getting here illegally. Especially when those need emergent health attention?

Where does the burden fall on treating these folks? Since doctors are ethically required to treat the immigrants, should the docs really have to render their services pro bono (even though many already have no choice to do so)?

Please  Re-read the post.  If they are here already...let's figure out what they are status wise. The cat is out of the bag on that. But we gotta stop the wide open border. The illegals free passage has to end.  There are multiple ways.... how bout a few billions of the stimulus money for police and protecting the border. How bout rotating out some National Guards since they have to train sometime on something? I bet the ND Guards or Montana Guards, or Wyoming guards would love to spend a few weeks in mid winter along the sunbelt....those are just casual ideas, but they could be more fully developed.

Now...the converse... what is your solution....because we are just about ready to bankrupt the country. I know we differ on that thought, but I believe just as fervently about my position as you do about yours, and would like to know how you can assuage my great fear of this as a small business owner and private citizen?

dakotadj, you're pretty good at putting the immigration issues right at the top of your agenda. We all know what your complaint is, so what is your solution? Realistically?

Do you think illegal immigrants should be exempt from Obama's idea of mandated health insurance, since you think the government option shouldn't be available to them? What are the ramifications to each scenario in your mind?

Secure the border and stop the hemorrage at the border. Identify who is legal and who is not legal.  Then determine a fair way that they can become either a documented tax-paying, benefit-enjoying guest worker, legitimate immigrant, or a send-them-the-heck home non-desirable.  That seems pretty simple to me.  The first two should be given consideration for all rights, the third can go someplace else.

HR 3692 sucks because it does NOT require identity and citizenship verfication for elgibility for Medicaid. DOES NOT require identity and citzenship verification in order to receive "affordability credits" used to purchase health care coverage through the health insurance "exchange and DOES NOT bar illegal aliens from the health insurance "exchange"..

Conrad, Dorgan, Fienstein, Boxer; Let them have it with your disgust !! I will personally email and call them all..  I don't care HOW you feel about this bill ..good or bad, but that BAD needs to be fixed in the Senate Version.  I will inform California senators my intentions to make sure they get voted out of office in next election.
