THAT....is a fantastic idea!! Might take a summer to really get the people coming but I agree with you 100 percent on your points.
Thanks tremendously for the information!!!

As most of you know, I live in Portland, Oregon. Last night my wife and I attended a fantastic event that is put on by Portland Parks and Recreation called "Movies in the Park". Every other day there is a movie that is shown for free in one of Portland's parks. The park in which the movie is shown in rotates, and the movies range from newly released films such as "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" to classics like "The Wizard of Oz". There are vendors available selling snow cones and drinks, however small bags of popcorn are free. The movies in the park program runs all summer though September. The movies start at dusk, but there is pre-movie entertainment, such as local musical acts.
Last night, hundreds of people showed up with their families and dogs to claim a piece of grass to enjoy a film with their neighbors. Some people brought camp chairs while others brought a blanket to lay on. A few families brought a small portable table to have a picnic. Many families got together and had a pot luck picnic during the film. A good time was had by all, new friends were made, old friends grew closer.
I think this is a fantastic idea and would be a great weekly event during the summer months of Williston. It would be an excuse for families to get out of their house and meet other families in the community, and an excellent opportunity for families to get out and utilize some of Williston's fantastic parks.
Now, I know that some people will already dismiss the idea due to mosquitoes, but I know that during reunion/July 4th I did not receive one bite during the program in Harmon Park. I assume the park was sprayed prior to the event for everyone's comfort, so I'm sure that can be accomplished before a weekly movie showing/fellowship.
I believe a weekly free movie in the park would be a fantastic way for families to get together to enjoy the company, the beautiful park, and of course an entertaining flick.
