In my opinion, it isn't the government's responsibility to provide us with work and housing. That is our responsibility. If there are both in the city we want to live in.....great! If not..hey...life is not always fair, get over it!
I AM for goverment sponsored affordable health care. Here's why:
When you get laid off at your job, it should be your right to just pick yourself up by your boot straps and start your own company. I believe that health care is the number 1 reason why most people cannot do that. If you solve that problem, unemployment and recession problems will almost solve themselves.
Sure, you may have to give up a big house and a few cars to do it, but life doesn't owe you those things. This isn't one big welfare pool. Sometimes we have to suffer a little to get to where we want to be. We can live without a big house, we can live without several new cars. We can't live without health care.
I just think Pelosi - Reed - and Barney Frank found a way to make the whole country work just for them and their States. California - Nevada - Arizona - Atlanta, Georgia. We only have 4 years to wait to try and change that - hopefully they don't FUBAR it too much.
Is it the responsibility of the government to make sure we have a house and a job wherever we choose? I heard that over 250 billion is going to mortgage relief in only 5 states. Guess which ones. All the expensive ones. Is it really the responsibility of our govt to help people live in a place they can't afford? I salute the many people in our area who couldn't find adequate work where they were so they moved here to find it. Isn't that the responsible thing to do? If there aren't any jobs in your community, go find one somewhere else?
I had this discussion with an aquaintance of mine. She said how do I have the nerve to say that because her mother was laid off and couldn't find work, in Minot mind you, that she needed to move to where she could find work. Isn't it our choice to live where we do? In my opinion, if we make a bad, or a tough choice, we have to live with it.
I'm just curious if I'm a minority with the thought that it's my privilege to work and live where I wan't, not my right.
