The best part of Christmas for me as a child was being able to have my dad home Christmas eve and Christmas day. He worked in the oilfield, we lived in Plentywood at the time and he worked for Nicor. So he was either staying here in Williston in a hotel, on location in his trailer, anywhere in ND, MT or WY. It sucked, not being able to see him. I would go and spend my summers out on the rig with him. But it was just great having him around for the holidays. But as a special gift, I think it was a few years ago when mom gave me a picture of my Grandfather with a silver dollar coin he carried everywhere he went. It is so worn out, it just looks like a silver slug. She wanted me to keep it in my pocket always like he did, but I'm too afraid Ill lose it.

Yes, Tammy I remember them sooo well. I wanted my own bike to ride in the powder puff races. Remember they wouldn't let us race with the boys. LOL. Once I used Dennis McGrath's bike in a powder puff race. I took like 3rd...felt like I was riding a little tricycle...LOL That is why I got my own bike and never got to use it. Ahhhhhh and if I do remember correctly, you also raced in a few powder puff matches yourself. Ahhh the good ole days. LOL.

My best present is going to the farm church and watching the little ones put on their program. No presents for us this year - spent all the Christmas money to go to son's wedding in Jamacia in April.
In 6th grade I got a BMX bike. Chrome and Black....man, I loved that bike. Two weeks later someone stole it...never to be found again...sigh. I was taught a very valuable lesson that year....Lock the durn garage at night!

What is that one special gift that really stands apart from the rest?
Merry Christmas!
