I wanted to let people know that I (we) have been doing this for years in my classroom and every year I have the kids vote on a gift exchange or a shopping trip for needy children. Every year they have voted to shop! Many times there are kids in my classroom that should be on that tree (and maybe they are...) and they still donate money to the cause. When the gifts are picked out and we go back to class they are so proud of themselves. It is a really awesome experience to watch. Thanks SKM...... and thanks to all the families that support our adventure!
(.......have you ever taken 35 6th graders to Wal Mart? ha! In some ways it is easier than taking 3 kids under the age of 5!!!!)
Thanks for that, Shayla! That's what Christmas is truly about. Someone tell those kids we're proud of them!!

For a few years now, the Lewis and Clark 6th grade class have been selfless students in foregoing there class Christmas exchange party and opting instead to use the money they would spend on each other for those in need. This year four children will benefit from the selfless act of these 6th grade students. I am sooo Proud of the 6th Grade class at Lewis and Clark!!! And thank you soooo much to Mrs Rossland and Mrs Mehlhoff for helping to teach our childred to open their hearts to others who are less fortunate. God Bless You!
