I am a news hound..I go everywhere.. Papers on line from here to where ever.. on line - You all..Radio.. Listening to the different views from our men from Montana to Minnesota to Idaho. If I don't get the answers that I just don't think is right - I will write the government that I have a short but pointed question. They don't like nagging - So I expect a short answer to my questions. And normally get them. All states have a .gov and questions may be asked. And to you all Thank You. And you too Randy Waitman, I did ask you directly. I appreciate your input. Happy Thanksgiving all.
Oddly enought, I agree with SKM. (wow....thats crazy! LOL). I get a lot of my information from news networks and the internet (a lot from snopes.com and msnbc.com) I'd rather watch CNN, but do turn on FOX.
Of course...i do get a lot of information from Noggin also :) Thats what on my TV 99% of time :) Hey, did you know "don't bite your friends" ??? Thats what I'm learning today!
When it comes to regular news I hop around from station to station and website to website. If I'm looking for a journalistic point of view I tend to spend most of my time on FoxNews but will listen to the other stations just to hear what they are saying. If I need factual information on a candidate during election time I spend time finding out how each candidate voted on particular issues and research decisions made as an elected official. With exception to the primaries, I never really did that as much this year since I was pretty clear on who I was voting for.
The one thing that I don't do that have done quite a bit of in past elections is listen to talk radio. I have just really gotten sick and tired of griping and complaining and whah whah boo hoo. The worst one out there, in my opinion, is Ed Schultz.

I get information from multiple sources. On a local level, mostly from conversation with people who know people who know people. Then you kinda sort out the chaff from the wheat (excuse the metaphor). I served on the Williston Park Board for 12 years, several of them very intensive years. It helps to establish a network of people who actually live the stuff that the rest of us just talk about. There are a lot of people who "know" stuff, they just choose not to publicly share it....for whatever reason. I am one of those who do not care so much about political correctness, and try to focus more on "rightness"; at least from my perspective, and am not above debating on a public forum. I relish the idea.
I have served, and continue to serve, on committees and boards locally, statewide, and nationally. Depending upon what it is that you do, you will find that in many ways it really is a small world.
An then there is of course, the media....as with many on this board... I love FOX news. There is no question that FOX leans to the right in program content. So what? Every one of the other majors leans one heck of a lot more to the left than Fox leans right. I used to watched CNN, and MSNBC and their talking heads....and it disgusts me. At one time, they reported in a reasonably ethical manner, but they have been in a very partisan phase for some time now. Hopefully they will change.
I read online newspapers from multiple news outlets and major newspapers from several places.
I have lots of conversations with other people I have met, both locally and worldwide. It is very eye opening. As an International Referee in an olympic sport, I have been fortunate to be able to travel to numerous countries, and have been able to meet people from many other societies as well. You might be surprised that we have much more in common with other cultures than not, and most of them follow the US issues avidly.
I presume that you hope to become more informed. Locally, get on some boards, run for office, join the Chamber of Commerce, or whatever...but get active. It all accelerates from there.
That is great question. I get my information from the news.. I watch Fox news, CNN, and MSN to see how they all are spinning the information. Then, when I ride the fense on some issues, I go to snoops.com. And I watch the debates, the people, do they dodge the issues, or do they take them head on. I also read some of the papers. But you have to realize that those writing the collums or reporting the news have agenda... to push what they want. Why hon, were do you get your information?
My day to day passive news comes from various sources. If I'm online I usually get info from the BBC international section, the Washington Post, and sometimes the Oregonian (for local Portland news). I do alot of perusing online editions of newspapers when I'm killing time.
I also listen to a good amount of NPR when I'm roaming around my apartment, so most of the news on NPR comes from BBC sources.

Everyone is sounding off about where people get their information... Steve Powell - Jibslider - SKM - Mommy of 2 - I personally would like to know where do you get you Responsible Information.. Randy Waitman waiting for your information. You all wanted to know about how I and others are informed - I now would like to know how you are informed.
