Liberal with a brain...that is the biggest oxymoron I've heard. LOL. Oh no, wait... a liberal with common sense!!! I cant decided which is more comical!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!
I too very much appreciate Jibslider.. Great Views...pretty close to my son's heart... I really did not know who owned Fox News. I did not know who ruppert was. sorry. But when I go to other newspapers and read their articles and then the opinion page and find out who voted for what, I just think it is totally overwhelming and people get tired or are to busy or just no longer care. Then the government runs amuck. I just appreciate Williston more and more each day. Really don't want anyone to Burst our Protective Bubble. Again Sorry if I offended anyone.
I couldn't agree with you more. I appreciate tremendously what Jib brings to the table here. Jib, you speak common sense. This message board is better as a result of that. Thank you. Same goes to the rest of you VKO, SKM, Randy, Kingfish, Codysmom, JLV, MO2, Carnell, and the rest that have helped build this message board.
In my skewed view of the world , the media bias goes beyond merely a political party, they will latch on to an idividual and then eat their own (Hillary) to see that individual succeed.
And on a side note, try and look up political stuff when a YouTube of Bushisms is playing. All I can say is....good luck with that. Those are too dang funny to turn off.

Wait a second, Jib. The reason I feel so strongly against Obama is because I DID my own research. In fact, had I relied on the media for my research, like the majority apparently did, I would probably have voted for Obama. So it appears your calling the majority of the voters.....lazy.
So honestly, Jib. Do you feel there is any bias in the media?
Maybe lazy isn't the most appropriate term, maybe "society of convenience" would better describe the majority of voters.
Honestly there is an enormous about of bias in the media, you can not deny it. Of course there are supposed safe guards that are supposed to allow equal coverage for both main parties during election years, but in reality it doesn't happen. I think most people know that the majority of media outlets are more liberal minded with the one exception of FOX News (FOX is owned by Rupert Murdoch vko).
Oh this is good...have at it Jib. Civil dialogue and discourse are soooooo entertaining...
It is so nice to see a liberal with a brain. I just took a quick gander at the last few posts and when I get time, I would like to weigh in too....too busy at the moment.
Why don't you contact Mr. Larry Larsen and see if you can get him involved as well. I really would like to be forced to do research to make a rebuttal to his version of the world.
And then while we are at it....get after Kingfish...I know he has gotta be a closet left-of-center dude as well.....
Not to mention that you will be a real challenge...

... Personally I don't think that any of you or myself actually know who is doing what in the House Senate etc etc The State we are in Nationaly is overwhelming to say the least.. And I am for one am scared whoever has gotten into the White House.. My Last 20 years of watching this - has gotten bizzare to say the least. I have voted Democrate and Republican - It has been the person who was to be the best... I Haven't felt strongly about any of them. We have only started watching things none of us have any controll of. And you all will have to deal with whatever is happening now. Tell me if I am wrong about this. I wish I felt hopeful about the people who have been elected from State's to the White House..
I for one am glad that the rest of the world isn't as depressed with feelings of hopelessness for the next few years as the citizens of Williston are. I've had the opportunity to vote in the past 3 elections and I have never witnessed a general feeling of anticipation, excitement, and support for a president elect like I have felt for Barack Obama (except in Williston of course).
Personally, I have never felt this excited for a new president to take office. A fresh look at the problems and strives of this country believe it or not is a great thing, and Obama brings this general feeling of excitement that seems to be rallying the citizens of this nation, as well as OTHER nations! (except Willistonites of course) I just need to get my opinion out there, since almost every other person has been so negative toward the future of our country with Obama at the head of the table. Mr. Obama was the 1st presidential candidate I felt strongly aboutI am excited for the future, and can not wait to be proud of our president again.
Secondy, if you feel like you don't know who's doing what in DC that's your own fault. Look it up instead of relying on Rupert Murdoch or Ted Turner to tell you. The information is available and it isn't that difficult to find, if you can find the time to surf away from YouTube.
Thirdly, if you feel the media is to blame... turn it off! Make it a point to do your own research instead of relying on information to be spoon-fed to you. The media is there to make money by relaying thier spin on information. It's up to you to take in what you want from specific sources. Blaming the media is a cop-out and general laziness.

Well Jibslider I am happy you are happy. And who is Rupert Murdock and Ted Turner is a Manic Depressive. He's on Drugs. I look at the Lawyers involved after every election - I Read from Democrate to Republican News Papers from New York to Las Vegas to Washington to Texas to DC . I am only assuming you do not pay for a Mortgage of a Home... I know , don't assume anything it just makes an ass out of you and me. Sorry your trip home wasn't very happy..

I was reading the opinion page of the Washington Post and New York Times and I forget which but one person posted "That now we have voted in Obama we have to get behind our new Ruler." Since when did we start voting in new Ruler's and not Presidents. Wow...I thought I was confused.
Yeah, politics in general has turned into "one big old poop sandwhich". Sorry to use the line from my signature. But somehow it's all spiraling out of control. I still feel the media has far too much say in how it all plays out. The crises we see in our country today could potentially have been avoided had the big red "alert" button that is the media just focused on non-biased journalism rather than trying to make everything doom and gloom because they didn't like the president.
So now I'm thinking, pretty soon I won't have to make my GMAC payment either and I could likely get another hand out from that. What's next? Perhaps I could somehow get the government to pay for my internet, cable tv, cell phone, etc... Why doesn't the FCC make a push for the government to give a bunch of money to all our communications networks? Heck, I'll stop paying my cable and cell bill too. And I have to eat or I'll starve, right? Well, you get the picture.
This is aimed at government in general, not at a particular individual.

It's a little sad that State's are fighting over ballots... some are left in truck's of car's and our elected leaders and people in charge can't figure it out without lawyers... MO2, it strikes me funny that you are so quick to defend the pres. elect in a thread that pertains more to the ex-pres and the house.
This message board became stagnant for several days and it was all I could do to get someone to bring this site back to life. So, thank you for helping me do that.
As far as the bailout goes, I believe it was the house republicans that pushed for this...someone correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm right, then perhaps, MO2, you could catch up on current events and defend people for the right reasons. If I'm wrong, then I again disagree once again with the Democrat "hand-out to everyone even if they don't deserve it" policy it has followed for so many years. I should add exception to Clinton, since I believe he made an effort to get those on welfare back in the working class.
Regardless, it's good to see you guys posting again. And if I may, for without you guys, this board ceases to exist. You have my utmost gratitude.
Actually, you have me doing my research. I was aware that the majority of republicans voted down on the bailout. So I guess since your saying the opposite...I"ll look further into it. (tomorrow...gotta work tonight). I did think you were speaking of Obama, since this was a hot topic at work last night. Someone told me (complete hear say that I haven't checked into yet) that Obama said something about supporting the bailout. I'm not sure if thats true either.
I'm VERY quick to defend the pres. elect. I live in North Dakota and work in bar. It seems like the only thing i've done recently is prove people wrong by doing actualy research and showing them. Sorry to be so quick to judge.

Wow... it never ceases to amaze me how people read into comments there own perceptions/stereotypes/influences. In reading the opening comment of this post I never once thought that it had anything to do with our new President - In responding in that fashion one has proven that the power of perception often overrules the power of reality.
I believe that what the original post was something to generate discussion - the concept of this message board. Should we continue to "bailout" individuals who have made poor choices, should we continue to "bailout" companies that allowed (and perhaps encouraged) those bad choices, should we continue to "bailout" the markets and industries as we have done recently as well as in the past economic challenges that the country has faced?
If you step back and think about it these bailouts are only prolonging the and passing the problem onto the future. In some ways it is like Social Security, the Congress has continued to raid the SS fund to pay for things today because it is what will get them reelected and gain popularity and an ego stroke. Yet we continue to face the reality that those that are younger will continue to pay SS tax, and most likely not see any of the benefits. You can NOT continue to borrow from the future to pay for the present - at some time that future will become the present.

Neither do I, but I honestly think our president elect deserves more respect than he's getting from our country (especially those in Williston, ND...WoW...the racist remarks and terrible comments I've heard from my friends, customers, co-workers, ect.....just makes me shake my head in disbelief)
Afterall, those who fail to do so are being rewarded with a nice bailout. I understand it would affect my credit score, so what? It seems credit isn't all it's cracked up to be considering the amount of debt Americans have racked up. So, in order to see my tax dollars come back to me, shouldn't I just stop making my mortgage payment? Heck, shouldn't we all stop making our mortgage payments?
And I always thought you were more intelligent than to come up with something like this.......disappointing.
