In response to me protesting this circus, the answer is, on a smaller scale. I will be putting up my circus sign on Main street again, but am not going to go all out and spend hundreds of dollars on radio and newpaper adds like last time. I've come to the conclusion, that if some peoples idea of entertainment is taking their kids to watch animals being tortured, they are beyond help. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Educating people around here is like talking to a rock! The last time I did get a lot of support and those people will be educated enough not to attend. For the others that like to spread lies and ridicule, they are not worth my energy. Thank you much for actually taking the time to research and educating yourself about this issue. It's more than I can say for most! Carnes and Barnes circus is just as bad if not worse than Jordan World!

I can't even argue that point...(hmm..thats a first for me). Your correct. Its very hard to determine whether something is fact or Fiction. But I seriously don't think that google would be the answer to someone that is looking for facts.

Are you sure you're not talking about the media in general? Turn on your tv and watch every single news network for 10 minutes each...no different than the info you find using google.

just one more time on this thread...but...Google is good, you just have to be very careful on what you read. There's 10 bad things listed for every 1 good. I really believe that. If you can find information that you THINK is true, you better look it up again, because its a good chance that someone just made it up. And your right, in order to contact the organization directly, the best place to find the information is google. But your looking for contact information, not someone's opinion. Google is full of opinions, very few facts.

Kinda funny, but it appears we're arguing the same thing. With the exception of Google. Don't underestimate the power of Google or the internet. Be careful of the sources you choose to read but seriously, don't underestimate what you can research on the internet. Many of the facts I had obtained for the playground issues came from doing hours upon hours of research on the internet. In fact the means to finding contact information in order to "contact the organization itself" as you said came from using Google. So when I point you to google I have good reason to do so. Besides, that's what we IT geeks do. wink

Oh wait, if we start a discussion on Google, we should prolly do it on a new thread. biggrin

I've done the research AND talked to the shriners personally. And your correct, most the incidents did occur before the year 2003. And the video that was being passed around during the last circus in town was dated 1982!!! Thats way to old to be used for an arguement. The video's that I saw that are some what recent, shows a trainer leading an elephant around with a "sharp hook". Those hooks are not that sharp and in no way harm the elephant. Can you imagine if you really did piss an elephant off? Or did something that completely hurt them? I'm pretty sure they would act differant than just walk around in a circle.

I don't believe much that I read on the internet. Most of it is stretched out lies anyway. If you really want to know how the elephants are treated, contact the organization itself. Don't point me to "google" for answers.

I do believe that its the Carnes and Noble Circus comming to town. I don't know much about them, but believe me , I will be doing research on them. And very likely......attending.

And just an after thought...the zoo comparison came from a quote from Jyl which I thought was very funny. I wasn't comparing them myself. To me, they are completely differant. As you said.

I'm serious about this too...this is not a ploy to call you out. I did the research on the last one and found some pretty bad stuff regarding the elephants. Not much about the other animals..but the elephants for sure.
