I had not fully realized how Obama titled his book. I had known he was raised, in part by his grandparents. He always touts his grandmother, not his grandfather.
I do question why Obama gave his book the title he did. He had so many that held significant roles in his life. "Dreams from my Father" was a tribute title to a man that did not participate on a regular basis in his child's life. I do understand that there were some letters, this is a man who died as a result of a car accident when his son was rather young. I must agree, I can not find where Obama lived on the continent as his Father while growing up. The couple weeks you point out may be generous.
I do wonder if the associations he had through his life held views that were much like those of his father, he may have encompassed several males as the Father figure. The title may be a culmination of all the FATHERS. I did note that the film maker pointed out the mentors who were similar in belief to Obama Sr. and their influence. Perhaps the title is meant to reflect all these fathers?
When I do google colonialism, I find a multitude of articles that dispute Obama's association with colonialism. I find this odd, I do not google his name in association with the word.

They seemed to indicate that Obama's father had a tremendous impact on his life, even though I believe they only lived together for a couple of weeks. Anti-Colonialism seems pretty simple as presented by D'Souza (sp) in the move. I would like to do additional research on that as well. Perhaps I am making this way too complicated.
I like to fact check also. It did interest me though. I had forgotten some of the issues brought up in this film and am now refreshing myself. I still would like to verify more on the papers by Obama Sr.

I was able to bring it in on Dish last week. It has some profound revelations. I am looking for some fact checking before I get real excited about it. If it is true, it does explain some of the President's unconventional decision making.
I watched it too. I need to buy the DVD. I have to study things a little longer than most...I have questions. Although North Dakota doesn't have much say. He will either get elected or not by the time I am done. Thank You.
I finally watched the movie. Some very valid issues were raised. The one that is still standing out for me is "colonialism". We tend to think our Founding Fathers and that time period when we hear this term. I was enlightened. This term holds a much different context in many parts of the world, including the realm in which our President was raised. Kenya and India share a much different meaning behind this as do other parts of the world.
I was also struck by the published papers of Obama Sr.
I am now once again peaked by the 2009 speech Obama gave in Egypt as I had missed the reference to colonialism in my first 2 viewings. Now understanding this term as it is understood in other parts of the world, I am seeing more of our President's words coming to light for me.
