I walk into WeBe Pizza, Pizza Express, and Wheel-a-While and announce I'm Jibslider, and folks throw Boones BBQ, shaved ice, and limbo poles my way all the time.
What?! Those establishments aren't there anymore?! I guess I'll stay in Oregon.

I have noticed that even just going to Sidney a person gets better service. they are also going through the boom right now, but their customer service is by far much better. I dont think it is a matter of what your name is though. There are still some who have the "right name" who do not get the same treatment that their parents/grandparents did. I think we are starting to see the "right name" thing go away with the influx of people into the town.
Parent's always want to be close to their children. Especially grand children.
Crime and bullying has alway been a problem. Most likely more now. It just depends who you are...and your kid's name. Williston school's just has not been prep who's important and who is not. Williston is just not used to the influx of people. If the Williston School's aren't ready----Their problem. They do not have good enough people in place. I complained about this 20 Years ago. Of course I didn't have the right name. Maybe Parent's could for once expect something from their children, not the school's, not babysitter's, not some one else. Finally - the parent's are in charge of their children. Period. To blame society - or you had a tough life. Suck it up. Your babies are your babies, and if you can't deal with it or handle it, don't have any.
Traffic is bad. What do you want business or not? Do you want a job or not? Williston is full of whinner's. You can't have it all.
I have ate at many resturant's...They have been nothing but polite. They have bent over backward's to be helpful....a little overwhelmed maybe. Maybe the consumer should quit expecting expecting expecting. Politeness works wonder's.
As far as bar - or the local tavern. I do not know... North Dakota has a surplus - maybe we need more Police Car's - etc etc etc.....or maybe someone is - is getting the $$$$. The cops - Patrolmen - Sheriff's are working their back end's off. It is time to hire more and pay them.
The people who are complaining the most - as far as I have been able to see - they do not have land - nor do they have Mineral's - and the rent is going up. It happen's in every boom town - city. Is it irritataing to them of course. What is the answer. Who knows?

What is it about current Williston that is causing long time residents to consider moving out?
I know that every time a town grows in size, some of the "old-timers" are going to complain about how much better things used to be, but I've talked with 3 different families in the past month that are seriously considering moving away from Williston for various reasons.
The main reason to move away used to be to get closer to children that have moved away from Williston and relocated elsewhere, but I've only heard that from one family (my own parents) as the main reason they want to move out.
I've been told that crime and bullying are becoming major problems in the city to the point where you can't go out to eat or get a drink without a fight breaking out. One of my friends' Dad refuses to go to his long time favorite drinking establishment in town because they have to station a security guard there to control the fighting problem.
I've laughed everytime I hear it, but apparently traffic is an issue for many of the families considering leaving. I still chuckle, but when it now takes you 20 minutes to get where you are going, when the rest of your life it took 5-10 minutes, I can see how that would be annoying.
I've heard that customer service is the city's weakness. I've heard time and time again from folks that would rather drive to Minot or Billings for shopping and entertainment because nobody is friendly in customer service oriented occupations anymore in Williston. That's a huge stain on the city if you ask me.
Has anyone else heard similar stories about long time residents getting fed up with the current environment of the city and are considering moving out?
