But Jib, you and I both know we aren't isolating this issue to just quaint little Williston. This issue includes the southern parts of Arizona where farmers are being hatcheted.

on fully auto weapons, you can only have semi-auto there is a big difference,
you can't defend yourselves with a bolt action hunting rifle from any real threat...
the founding documents didn't provide us with firearms for hunting purposes, they did for self defense, this is very obvious when reading them. not only did they allow for this they said it was a God given right.
the M-16 is the full auto millitary version and yes this is banned from private ownership from what I understand.
IF YOU ARE QUOTING GERMAN LAWS!!!! please by all means move there!!!
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I know an elderly woman, owns a few hunting rifles. Lives outside of town.
She had a couple of fellas a few years back decide to rob her. They must not have realized she was home.
She level a rifle out the kitchen window as she watched them attempting to steal from her garage.
All she said was RUN. ****ed the the rifle.
One fella beat the other to the truck and spun the tires out. The other on the run behind grabbing he door. Dragging, one foot in and one foot out as they heard the resounding shot of warning at their tires.
Nothing reported by either party.
Don't need an assult rifle here. Not paranoid either. We all just figure the other guy is armed, well practiced and willing to use their weapon. I agree, we are good people. Very smart here. Most are armed and would protect our neighbor also.

I would like to point out the gun crimes in Williston, ND.
Williston is a well armed community. Very few can say they don't own a weapon. Most will not tell you exactly how many they have or how many rounds of ammo they are prepared to use. How many people were shot here last year? The year before?
It is not because our police force is that wonderful about gun crimes.
Perhaps we know if we pull a weapon on Mark or Bob, they will level 2 back at me. Do I want to risk that? Probably not. Best to attempt a little respect.
I grew up with firearms in Williston, and my family still lives in town without firearms, and I'm pretty sure my mom and dad aren't needing any guns to protect themselves from their neighbors.
Come on, don't be silly. Most Willistonites won't "pull a weapon on Mark or Bob" because most Willistonites are decent people... not because they're afraid of being shot back at.
I would estimate that 80% of people in Williston that own firearms, own them to hunt. I would say this number is not the same in a crime intense urban area like Chicago.
I don't think hunting rifles should be taken away from anyone. I completely understand that. Removal of assault rifles on the other hand, I am all for that. I really think people could have access to handguns for target shooting only. Concealing weapons permits... not a fan of that paranoia.
Back to hunting. I think hunting is a great past time, and I think hunters should be well informed. Take the process of getting a hunting license in Germany. I think the same educational process should be required here in the states. Look into it:

well first of all in chicago only Criminals can have guns,
and criminals don't obey the unconstitutional law in Chicago that bans people from having one...
so innocents are slaughtered,
:)
the solution is for people to exercise their God given right to defend themselves if need be. IMO
first and foremost firearms are there for us to defend against tyranny.
a very precious gift our founders gave us.
Ignatius is trying to educate and train people to be competent in self defense and not be victims of random acts of violence. I think it is brilliant!!!
Christ said if you don't have a sword sell the shirt off your back and go get one, especially true in uncertain times!!!

good info for those who are interested, contrary to sigma's beliefs I'm not trying to fearmonger, only want my fellow North Dakotans to be as prepared and safe as possible.
I have many friends out East in the District of Columbia and in the Denver area, from what I've heard from them there is more and more crime as cities and local governments struggle to make ends meet.
some people are just desperate from being faced with losing everything they have, jobs, houses. others may just be hardened criminals taking advantage of the situation either way I'd hope we can avoid losing friends and family to such situations by being ready especially mentally.
