RE: The Show " Outbreak "

Yep, this is another case of "the sky is falling" and will eventually wind down and we will all realize people will die from H1N1 just like the influenzas we have all come to know and hate.

You guys are all awesome.  I really appreciate every one of you that keep this message board going.

Have a great week!!!

Nothing is different than it has been for the past 20 years. H1N1 is a strain of the flu. People die of the flu every year. The only thing that is different now is that the media has caused massive paranoia, which makes the CDC and government have to make some sort of statement which causes more paranoia... etc.

Just have to put my own 2 cents in

. The H1N1 strain of flu is cause for concern because:

1. It is a mutated form of influenza from close contact animal sources (swine and bird)

2. It is more aggressive in younger, healthier people than your "average run of the mill influenza"

3. History tends to repeat itself. For example, 1918-1919 flu pandemic  when 50 million deaths worldwide.

4. A small amount of the H1N1 virus is already showing resistance to Tamiflu.

While general hygiene and healthcare itself has improved in great strides since 1918,
the government has the responsibility to notify and educate us on health issues. Though I agree, saying things such as "90,000 people are expected to die"...Well that's not really a good idea. Probably a little overboard. But minimizing the issue is not a great idea either.

Have to agree with vko on this one. Not a big deal, until it happens to you.

I wasn't just talking about the "little ole flu".   I know the flu has been around and also know there are different strain's.  Not a big deal...If your not pregnant or young or ill when you get it.  And if it is not YOU.

You are right about the book and fiction.  Still a great show.  But some of thing's that are happening now make's that book look like a cake walk.  Not being paranoid, but new strain's are out there.   Also got bit by a bug last summer when on the tractor.  it took a year to heal and have a scar (sp)  to prove it..  Doc didn't know what it was. He had not seen anything like it.  I never did know what it was and it has not happened since.  Every mosquitoe, bee,  and other bug's find's me ,so I dress accordingly and use lot's of bug spray -  alway's have.  Just saying not all thing's are fiction, anymore.

The book is much better. Remember, this is filed under fiction.

This show is still a very good show.  Dustin Hoffman and alot of other Great  Actor's.  It still make's me distrust Government - the fight with Government, Scientist's and all the in between. You Can't say this because the People are Stupid, keep them in the DARK. They will never know what hit them.
