This is what my husband says too. I just don't have the confidence in the administration except for Hilary. I know our Men and Women are the best, but it is hard to protect your country with your hands tied behind your back. I just don't know. (Besides that our leader's have a place to go for protection. The rest of us little worker ant's can kiss our back end's good-bye.)

well...Steve....that is kind of slippery slope...but on the other hand, I believe we also have evidence that Iran is going down the same path. We could...again in the hypothetical mode....tell Iran the same thing....and that we do NOT believe their claims of "peaceful" nuclear energy. I believe that even our new President has used the term that "all options are on the table"... we could simply tell Iran the same thing....a nuke goes off in the US.....and we will give you one too.
on the other hand....we, as a country could also just pull in our horns....isolate ourselves from these other countries who are afraid to act, and who actually have much more to lose than we do, and wait til they ask for our help. Callous as it sounds....it is very unlikely that any of these nasty nations other than China or Russia, has the ability...again callous as it sounds...to cause more than a "minimal", depending on your perspective, amount of damage to the US as a whole.... the rogues are unlikely to be able to send multiple ballistic warheads to our country...and a suitcase bomb or such...is "only" gonna get tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands...but not the whole bunch of us. N. Korea, Iran, Syria, et al need to be put on notice...not in a mean way but as a simple fact.
....Gotta have a big bunch of confidence to do that though...and I really don't think our current leadership has any of that.
;o) R
also an addendum...in the first post I did not mean to say tell China we would drop one on them too...just that we would drop one on N. Korea. I think China understands that if the "big boys" (us, them, and Russia) start tossing at each other, we are all dead....but N.Korea is fair game.

Question, (in devils advocate tone) are we certain other nuclear countries or potential nuclear countries (Iran) aren't selling this technology to rogue groups as well? Can we hit those red buttons while were at it? Or could we end up sending the missle to the wrong country?

Well...we pretty much have irrefutable evidence that they are developing nuke technology for export and have actually shared it. We should simply tell them in a factual way...and China....that if ANY nuclear device is detonated in the US we will immediately drop one on them. And if they want to give it to some of the radical fruitcakes out there, then they do so at their own peril. The same holds true for the other exporters or potential exporters of dangerous nuclear technology. The fallout from such a response will likely affect the atmosphere in China, South Korea, and Japan as well, so they will have a vested interest in preventing such a thing. Sure it is radical, but that is one reason we never had a nuclear holocaust with Russia....MADD. They need to understand and truly believe we are not bluffing and that we have the fortitude to respond. I know this sounds radical...but one of the reasons Ronald Reagan had so much success is that he did not bluff. He simply said how it would be. We need some of that backbone in today's dangerous world.
