Steve, you are a big quitter and always was a quitter.  Now you want to give up on this board and try a new one.  In my opinion, that's a just a sign of giving up and quitting like you always do.  You are big loser and you should be able to handle posts that simply state the facts.. yeah, like this post.  You big quitter you! ... was this the type of post people should refrain from? smile.gif

I haven't been on any message boards lately.. but I do like this board.  I think people do a great job posting here.  There will always be disagreements.. which is really one of the main purposes behind the board.   But I disagree with your one statement: "3. Converse with others as if you were staring them in the face when commenting."

The beauty behind a message board is to feel free to post what you would NOT say to someone you disagree with while staring at them in the face.  A message board gets things out in the open... no reason to be shy in front of a computer screen.  Personal insults like my first paragraph is completely wrong... which by the way bro.. I know you know my humor.. but just to be clear to everyone.... I was joking.. Steve is NOT a quitter.. He's just a big loser.

Unfortunately some people fly off the handle before they get to the end of the post and don't realize you were joking. Other people also are just vicious but think as long as they put a smily face at the end it's ok or later when they are called out on it they say they were just joking. Don't dish it out if you can't take it. In regards to not finishing reading, did anybody see the April Fool's prank about the casino going in to the Yellowston Merc in the Sidney Herald. Case in point about finishing reading regardless of  outrage. If it's sill on the site the reactions from people before they are told to finish the article are classic. I think you have to do a date search from 3/31/09 to 04/01/2009.

I am considering whether or not to start a new message board.  I will keep this one alive as well.  Here are my thoughts.

I can change the name of this message board to something like the sunshine and roses board and everyone can be nice and agree with each other 100 percent of the time and then name the new message board something like thick-skinned only or free for all or black and blue message board for those that would rather gouge peoples eyes and bite their ears.

It's funny to me how people really don't know how to use message boards.  Do I need to start a class on message boards for dummies?  It's not that difficult.

Rules
1. Never go into a message board with the attitude that your opinion is the
    only correct opinion.
2. Always respect other posters comments and opinions.
3. Converse with others as if you were staring them in the face when commenting
4. Accept criticism with a grain of salt ALWAYS CONSIDER THE SOURCE
5. If you don't like a particular thread or poster, IGNORE IT\THEM AND MOVE ON.

And this list goes on.  It's simple common sense.  Some people on this board post very gracefully.  I'm trying to learn from them.  Others are very blunt.  I respect that as well, at least until it goes to the point where it becomes obnoxious.

Randy is 100 percent right on in the fact that boards like this can actaully be very healthy for a community.  I've seen it.  However, for some reason Williston people would rather beat on each other than have good, healthy conversation.  Look at the Herald guestbook.  It just floors me that people tend to be so guile.  Look at Sidney's online newspaper guestbook.  THAT IS WHAT A "GUESTBOOK" IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE.  You don't see people BITCHING at each other on that site.

Personally, I have been uber busy the last couple weeks so I have not taken the time to participate much.  It will continue to be sporadic for me but I'll check in frequently none-the-less.

I can remove every single thread posted here and we can start over too.  But honestly, I don't think many that visit this site have the stomach for it, Randy.  Far too many people are only interested in being spectators here.  Afraid a comment might be taken wrong or someone will think their opinion is stupid.  How many stupid comments have I made since I started this site?  Hell, I realize I have but I do it for the sake of working toward finding common ground, trying to bring correct information to people (even if I start with the wrong information).

Oh well.  Randy, I honestly don't see Williston being able to support discussion forums of any type after what I've seen the past 4 years that I've lived here.

I'm opened to any suggestions to make the site more enjoyable.  Even if you are a mere lurker, you can send suggestions to my email at suprtrev@gmail.com

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Well...I wouldn't give up just yet Steve....to ....ahem....paraphrase the President (the man Larry greatly admires)...."you (and your generation) are the ones we have been waiting for"...

;o)
