Thank you Bohdan.. I will probably add a few extra kennels other than for my dogs.. for that reason. Hopefully things get going this summer.. Thanks again.
Oh, Bohdan...I agree. Oscar was very, very protective! We had signs and told all our friends to be very careful around him. Horseplay was not allowed when he was around. I know exactly what you are saying. Chows are a dang good breed of dogs tho. Smart as whips but yes,...iffy at the best of times.
VKO,I think it would be a great thing to have a good dog kennel in Williston. I take mine to Sidney. Very clean and reasonable rates.
SKM, Your story about your dog is unfortunate but to say that Chows are loving dogs is laughable. Chows, Pitts, and Doberman's are the most aggressive dogs. I have had experinces with these breeds of dogs many times and they never have good outcomes.
Yes there is but it is in a basement of a building - also that is where they put the animals that are picked up by the dog catcher. Or that is how it used to be - the other one that was very nice North and east of Williston went out of business. Mine would be also 3 miles east but very limited space which would allow a dog to be inside or outside in it"s own kennel. I figured maybe 3 kennels for personal attention that will care for dogs that people are worried about leaving. I am taking mine to Ross for Personal Care so my trip will be a little more enjoyable. This is not to make a million - this is to care for a pet family member that wont be tramatized (sp) to be without their families. It would be part of my family of dogs but not put together.. They would be treated like my 4 but would be seperate.. That is why very small. And the Big Dogs will be away from the Little ones.. I hate that they put my little 6 lb shih tzu next to a 100 lb lab. And then off to work they go. Just a clarification and a thought. Oh Well - Just a thought.

vko...I hate to be the Debby Downer here... but let me. If you do this...make sure you get every shot record (up to date) and get a dang good lawyer to draw up a contract stating that if that dog contracts anything is NOT your responsibility. If Mr Jones's dog kills Mr. Smiths dog in your care... your responsible. I love how you love animals! I believe it's noble. But lets face it, the path to hell is paved with honest intentions. And the hell is the lawsuits you will face if something goes terribly wrong. Same thing happens in dog parks all the time. I have seen first hand how some dog owner think there dog is just great and wonderful, and let them off the leash...and that same dog will attack a dog on a leash. It truly is a brutal sight to witness. If any dog comes up to me and my dog while my dog is leashed and starts a fight....I will with out hesation drop kick the aggressive dog. And please beaware of the breeds and temperments of the bigger dogs. We had a Chow. The most loving dogs you can ever find but VERY, VERY protective. Well, anyway, we had our Chow, "Oscar"....was his name. And one he was outside on his chain. (No it was NOT a daily thing. It was late he had to go out so pee chain it was) not more than 5 minutes we heard this wild ruckus!! So hubby ran out back door and here was our beloved Oscar in a live or death match with a pitbull from 3 doors down. Yelling and screaming did nothing with dogs....and too get in the middle was sucide! WE just knew our Oscar was a gonner...that pit was out for blood! So after (what seemed a lifetime) Oscar was on his back with his paws tied in his that damn chain. And in a what I consider a last second Grace of God move, Oscar grabbed that pit on the the right side of his neck and tossed that Pit back and forth like he was a rag doll. When Oscar let go that dog ran away.
Hubby gave ol oscar a scond to calm down...then un wrapped that stupid chain and we healed his paws. Well come to find out...the people down the street, were dog and **** (rooster) fighters. That poor Pitbull was just soooooo hungry. Although Oscar is no long with us I know he's still fighting the good fight. Vko... I tell this cause I want you to be very careful if you open a kennel. Dog owners will lie and say that their dog is oh so nice, when sometimes that dog knows NO kind of niceness. Or LOVE. If you do open a kennel you have a repsonabiliy to Yourself and to those Dogs. To let all dogs run together would be a Utopia.... that is a great dream...but NOT a reality. So good luck in you endevers. God bless and good luck.
A friend from the Keene Area and I were talking this weekend about this subject. She has a perfect spot in the country and I will at some point when I move off the farm to land 3 miles away from Williston. Just a thought and wondered if there is a need. My plan was to have in door kennels for dogs in a warm garage with out door runs. It would be small little kennel that the animals I took care off would have personal attention..Just a thought and would like input. Thanks.
