I dunno Jib....I think the philosophy of not meeting with people like Iran and so on, predates George Bush....by several administrations.  And I like to think the Iranians released the hostages in order to appease Ronald Reagan, 'cause they were the first ones to realize he was a "real" cowboy, and would be a holy terror to antagonize....particularly compared to a peanut farmer...but then that's just me....

biggrinbiggrinbiggrin... I'm not sure on that one, the peanut industry seems to be conducting some sort of biological warfare on sandwich loving citizens these days.

The mentality where our dignitaries, president doesn't meet and talk with "enemies" as you put it is something I never understood during the Bush/Cheney years. Why on Earth wouldn't you meet with someone in a dignified and peaceful manner and at least attempt to reach a common ground? I do not understand that form of dipolomacy, and never have.  I liken President Bush's tactics in diplomacy to that of an over dramatic pre-menstrual former girlfriend of mine... if she didn't like what I had to say, she would just ignore any attempt at civilized discussion to resolve the issues at hand, and Lord knows how far that relationship went.

If the US had run its diplomacy like President Bush, the hostage situation in Iran would never have been resolved, and we'd continue to look like a pig-headed know it all country. I praise the new and up to date civilized tactics President Obama are taking to try to bring resolution in chaotic areas of our world in a peaceful, non pre-menstrual  manner.

Just curious.  Where do you get Israel giving us nuclear technology?  Whatever happened to the Manhatten Project? In fact, the Germans were headed towards their own before we started ours.

However, there's no doubt they have one of the world's most powerful Air Forces to go along with their nukes.  So it's nice to keep them as a powerful ally.

But as a predominantly Christian nation I believe we have supported Israel because our God supports Israel.  Look what the Israelites have gone through the past couple THOUSAND years.  Oy vey! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Not just us here in the USA...what about Israel?   We were their biggest avocate and now the US (not me) voted in a president would rather chat with the enemies of Israel than backing Israel up.  Big mistake!   Its already starting over there.   Now here this and remember this,   When Israel took back Jerusalem in the 40's, Golda Meire was Priminister and she said "Never again".  And she ment it.   Israel is the size of Connecticut and they have enough Nukes to take out Iran, Irac,...ect!  And mind you, we didnt give them this technology...reverse it... They gave us yes the USA the nuke!  And not just the nuke.  The jewish have helped to build this fine strong country. To turn our backs on Isreal makes me sick.  Obama is NOT my president.  Ugh...nobody is safe NOW.   And ND is right.  You cant rationalize with irrational people!  HELLO.

I guess one could argue that Bush and Cheney were in office when it happened. That doesn't make it their fault that it happened. My point is that there isn't a ball to keep an eye on. The world is more like a million balls, some of them out of control and invisible until it's too late. I do have the highest respect for our secret service and all of those in charge of our national security.

However, insanity cannot be understood, and the actions of the insane cannot be predicted. No sane person can think like the insane. Insanity, coupled with hatred, can't be battled. It is intangible. How does anyone fight that?

As in Russia and Iran.  At least Bush and Cheney did not take their eye off the ball.  President Obama seems like he thinks he can just chat with them.  At least were not sitting in some big city with no place to go. If something happens now - the Liberals will finally have proof that Bush and Cheney actually did their best to protect us.

Hi VKO,

As secure as what?

911 left us all with the knowledge that anything can happen at any time. I guess I don't really feel that it has a lot to do with who is in the White House at the time. No one can guess what the insane might do and when or why.

Could America do more to make us feel secure? Not that I know of.
