RE: Theodore Roosevelt Film

The approach to speaking your mind is the main point.  Word your replies carefully to show respect for the others in the debate.  I'm not always very good at this but I'm learning.biggrinbiggrin

I haven't read anything offensive that you have posted, Vko. Nor Jib or Jeremy...or anyone for that matter.  We're just laying it on the line of how we all think and feel about the issues.  And I for one don't believe that the majority of the people on this board are "Right wingers"...I just think we're Not afraid to stand up to the Liberals.  The media has made the "right wingers" to be war mongers and enviromental haters, which is sooo untrue, that what choice do we have?  Liberal's want to shove their ideas and their way of thinking down our throats and then they say its the "right wingers" who are stubborn and unwilling to what...conform to "their" way of thinking.  ummmmmm...I think we all call that Communism AKA Socialism in other words...Share the wealth.  Never, NEVER be afraid to speek your mind.  smile

I just thought it was because this time of year was busy.  I hope I have not offended anyone. I am very sorry if I have.

You're correct, but you have to expect that sort of a response from the extensive amount of right-wingers in Williston (and on this board).

I for one enjoy the banter, and if anything that my liberal hands type get through to just one person for 1 millisecond, I consider that progress :) Also, just when I think I'd consider moving back to Williston there's a response on this board or on the Herald site that remind me why I left in the first place.

Yep, there's definately etiquette when it comes to posting on message boards.  But it was stated many times when the board first started that you really have to be thick skinned.

What I find funny though is how quickly people walk away from a debate.  Why didn't you try harder to prove your points?

Some peoples perspective of being attacked might be overly sensitive too.  The flip side to what you're saying, Jeremy, is that if someone doesn't get another individual to agree with their point of view, they feel like the whole board is against them and are attacking them.

I'll admit, I like to debate stuff and hopefully I don't always come across as a mean spirited debater.  I usually try to see every side in the debate like the circus protestors debate.  And I try not to attack, especially on a personal level.  Yes, there are some that take debating a step further, but you can always simply push the ignore button.

Also, I realize this is the reason why people rarely post.  So I've tried to start threads that promote non-debatable topics such as the Christmas Present thread and the most athletic (although that can also end up in dabates and thank goodness it didn't).  So I really am trying to appease to as many on-lookers as I possibly can.

If anyone that frequents the site wants to discuss things that are non-debatable they are way more than welcomed to do so.  People haven't gone away...we still average around 55 viewers per 24 hour period which is as high as it's ever been.

My advice to all that don't have thick skin and don't like to debate....ignore those topics and start some that are fun and entertaining.

This particular topic is a great example and look what it has turned into. confusewink

You know why there are so few posters on this site.........?

As soon as anybody does not fall in line with the conservative North Dakota Republicans says something even the least bit contraversial.  The small group that posts on every topic goes on the attack.

When this site was started I posted on the simularities between Obama and JFK I instantly was attacked.  I never even said I was for Obama.  I wrote a list of facts and I was told I was wrong.

Don't get me wrong, my feelings are not hurt, I am not losing any sleep, I am just stating why I believe there are so few people that post on this site.  I could be wrong, but I do not think so.

I looked at the book on line.  Next time I make it to town after the storm will buy it.  It looks like it is a great book to read.  Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Actually right now I do not know.  I am not impressed by movies or any of the people that try to know what happened years and years ago.  Actually I try not give Hollywood people any money. From renting movies or going to them.  Hollywood is all about themselves.  But will look at what you are saying.

I know there are some people that earlier said they hold a special place in their heart for President Theodore Roosevelt. Recently it was announced that a film entitled "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt" is being developed for director Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio.

I was just curious what those few posters to the board think about this.
