Phish starts off the summer tour on May 31 at ........ Fenway Park in Boston Mass!!!! Woohoo. Hoping to score tickets through the Phish Lottery system. Fingers crossed., Hey SKM,,, wanna see a phish show? I might have an extra ticket. Peace and Love gang.
It is Jibslider. But since Oregon has been losing money on gas tax - they are now hoping to charge tax on miles. Go before this comes into effect. I am wondering if us out of staters are going to have to buy a GPS so they can track our miles. That has to be the most insane idea I have heard of. After my son gets married I will hug him then hit him over the head for living there. Just giving you a bad time. Sorry.
A bit of winter joy at my house, successfully secured tickets for Phish concerts in Deer Creek and two nights in Alpine Valley (Indiana and Wisconsin) Woohoo! Summer is coming
They have so many song that hit so many different styles. When at concerts I love the classic anthems, i.e. Wilson, AC/DC Bag, Suzie Greenberg, they are great songs the crowd can sing with. Easy listening includes Farmhouse and Waste. Then they do a lot of great covers Jesus Left Chicago, Funky Bitch, Good Times Bad Times, (Beatle covers are pretty rare, as Kingphish said they did the whole White album for halloween one year) by far my favorite cover is Loving Cup, which I had never heard until Phish played it, but it is an old ROlling Stones tune. They also have some covers that are hilarious WIll Smith Gettin Jiggy with It and Chumbawumba's Tubthumping.
On another note one of my favorite things phish used to do a lot in the 90's and rarely in the 2000's was Trey (Lead guitar) would twang his wammy bar, and they play a quick rift that would tell the crowd how to act. For example he would hit the wammy bar and play a quick rift from the simpson's theme and the whole crowd on que yell "Duh" just like Homer. They had other rifts that tell you clap or jump up once or turn around. Back in the day you could always tell who was a newbie when everybody would spin around on que and one person would be standing there with a confused look on there face wondering what was going on. Bottom line the majority of the Phish crowd is very educated about the music.
I am rambling but a great thing about a phish crowd is there is not a yelling an screeming, They are there to here the music the crowd knows when to yell and knows when to shut up and listen.
Finally if you want to start listening to Phish my opinion is that you should start witht the Phish album "A Live One". Easy to listen to, but also gives you a good Idea about what they are all about.
Not that your mind wil be changed but they are not considered a vocal band at all. You might want to lilsten a bit more in order to form an accurate picture. Remarkably, most foks I subject to them think the vocals stink. I wonder what you came across to give you your current impression. They did cover the Beatle's White Album at a Halloween concert one year. Halloween concert's are famous for them doing an album cover, The Who's Quadrophenia, Lou Reed, Dark Side of the Moon, etc. As far as the acid goes, it is rumored that the most popular drug in the parking lot was nitrous oxide for a long time but the band issued a statement in opposition to such a damaging substance and security came down hard. Supposedly cleaned that up considerably. Enjoy your day Shayla!! ps. get some sleep. Damn girl, your up awful early!!
errrr ahhh, well...very nice vocals. But wow, throw back to the 60's. Peace, Love and Acid. LOL. Ouch, I think Maxwell's Sliver Hammer just came down on my head. Don't you think there too much like the Beetles? They do a copy of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Humm, now where have I heard that? LOL. Hey, do they do a version of "For the Benefit of Mr Kite"? LOL, if you like them, far be it from me to tell you other wise but for me, nada. They do have wonderful vocals tho! Ps. Peace, Love and DONT DO ACID.
But be careful, it might make you lean to the left a bit. Peace and love, Kingfish
Or...SKM, perhaps drive you further to the right...

Try google, or phish.com. Huge touring band, cult like following of fans, playing a hard to describe mix of jazz/fusion/rock with an occasional dose of bluegrass. Very improvisational in all live performances. concerts are usually 2 to 2 and a half hours with a 30 minute intermission and another 2 hour or longer second set, plus an encore of two or three songs. The concerts are full of neo-hippies and a handful of old hippies such as myself. Some of the music is an acquired taste and some is very easy to listen to. Go to www.livephish.com and just let it play on your computer for awhile. But be careful, it might make you lean to the left a bit. Peace and love, Kingfish
they are supposed to be announcing later dates as well. but if ya need to hit the march dates. break out the check book, american express, williston credit union check card, to the tune of ummm 349 - 6500 a day... yikes
UFFDA, UFFDA, UFFDA!!! Accordingly to the blogs and chatrooms, the entire 3 day event sold out in 4 seconds. We had 2 computers and 3 phones going all at once and got shut out. May have to hire one of the local telemarketing companies to compete for tickets next time. It looks like I am at the mercy of the scalpers now. Thanks for the support.
Will do - I will probably give him a reason - to give him an excuse to actually think about doing this - Maybe he and Stacey can go there for a honeymoon - she was his sidekick the first time around following Phish. Have a great time. PS I am not paying for your tickets tho...nor his this time. lol
Hey VKO, I was your son's high school football coach. Ironic that we are now both phishheads. Tell Cully hello for me, Perhaps we can meet in Hampton this spring. Woohoo!
Well, lookie there....Shay is very happy for the Phish Fans! Hey, Never let my grumpy butt deny you of your joy!! I'm just worried. Didn't mean to steal your joy or make light of it. I was having a bad day and took it out on the Phish Fans. Im sorry.
Yep, paid for my son's tickets - I don't know how many years ago.. But he followed them from I think Mpls to Maine... In a little tiny tent that floated away in a bad storm... Other things happened - He got pick up in New York going to slow in a fast lane...No Ticket the cop just shook his Head cause he was from North Dakota. Got Maised and Stepped on by a Cop Horse... He Loved It - It made me a Crazy Person... Have Fun All.
Petty happy in this camp. Can 't wait, I'm in the lottery for tickets at Hampton and will be saving my pennies to hit the road this summer for a couple of weeks jammin with the boys. Great music, great vibe, great community. And please SKM, find just a bit of time to be happy for us phish phans. It warms the soul. Kingphish

Get your Hacky Sack and Frisbee out of the closet, fill the tank of your Volkswagen van and put your senior thesis aside: Phish is reuniting. The Vermont jam band, made up of Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell and Jon Fishman, will play its first shows in more than four years in 2009 in Hampton, Va., according to the band’s Web site, phish.com. The hirsute quartet’s three-night stand at the Hampton Coliseum, scheduled for March 6-8, will be its first gigs since a farewell festival in Coventry, Vt., on Aug. 14 and 15, 2004. (Above, the group at a Coventry show.) Tickets for Phish’s Hampton Coliseum shows go on sale to the public Oct. 18, and more reunion dates are expected to be announced shortly.
