Jyl, thank you for helping clean up the trash. I too hate litter bugs. But a lot of that garbage is from young kids at the events who drop cups or candy wrappers or what have you and I think a lot blows out of the back of the pick ups and such,... and then it tends to build up around the fence where it gets caught. I used to live in Kern County in California and let me just say that is the junkiest, dirtiest place I've ever seen! They organize groups to clean it up and the next week, it's just as bad if not worse. I couldn't stand it if Williams County became like that or any of North Dakota for that matter! Maybe next time you do a trash cleaning, post it here and some of us may just join you. smile Thanks again Jyl and to all who helped you. smile

My step daughter wants to make it a weekly thing. We decided we are going to devote a couple hours a week, just to get out and make an effort to clean up some of the mess around here. I seriously felt so good after doing it, we had to drive by and see how good it looked when we were done. It felt great. We recycle cans, but do you know if there is any place that does plastic and paper???  I will post something in advance when we are going out again. We are going to Phoenix this weekend, but will be back Monday night. Please post if you have a time that you are planning to go also!

Jyl I think that the recycling center that used to be across from the court house does recyle paper, I think its strictly white paper Im not sure.........they have moved and the address is do tactfully spraypainted on the old building and I believe that it is run by Opportunity Foundation.  Hope that helps too!  And also I live in Trenton and I am the secretary of Trenton Township and we are organizing a All City clean up week this Saturday through Friday of next week............so if anyone is interested you can come and get Trash Bags at the Township on Saturday morning from 8-12pm! Fun Fun!

I just saw on TV today that it is City Clean up day on Saturday. I guess everyone is meeting in the Albertson's parking lot at 8:45am. I will be out of town, but my step daughter is going. Thought I would let everyone know.

So we went and picked up trash along the fence at the football field. 6 hefty bags later it looks great. I'm sure someone will have something to say about my 16 year old step daughter being to close to the highway or that she wasn't wearing gloves. It was her idea and she chose the location. A couple of her friends stopped and asked if she had community service. LOL Maybe we should pass a law.....oh wait, there is one DON'T LITTER! This town is so full of trash everywhere. That says to me that many people don't have any pride in where they live.

I hate to be the "bear"er (couldn't help it) of bad news, but there are already no polar bears on Antarctica... but then again, there were never any there in the first place. Polar bears are only native to the northern polar regions.smile

OK, Mr environmental scientist. So, maybe I got the region wrong. Would you have agreed if I had said the North Pole??

We are on our way out the door to go pick up some trash. Some idiot even threw a mattress in the ditch on the way to our house. I'm sorry, but if you can't afford the $5 to go to the landfill, you just better keep your old ratty mattress! I guess until people see first hand what we are selfishly doing to our planet and it actually affects them, they don't really care.  They say in 50 years there won't even be polar bears due to the melting of the polar ice caps! But again, people here don't live in Antartica, so screw the bears.
So sad, seriously, what is it gonna take?
HAPPY EARTH DAY!!
