I bought a new Ford F-150 and returned to the dealer the next day because I couldn't get the radio to work.
The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated.
'Nelson,' the salesman said to the radio. The radio replied, 'Ricky or Willie?'
'Willie!' he continued and 'On the Road Again' came from the speakers.
Then he said, 'Ray Charles!', and in an instant ' Georgia On My Mind' replaced Willie Nelson.
I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, 'Beethoven,' I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, 'Beatles, 'I'd get one of their awesome songs.
Yesterday, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new truck, but I swerved in time to avoid them. I yelled, "Ass Holes"!
Immediately the Iranian National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand, backed up by Michael Moore and The Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Harry Reid on spoons, Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on Scotch.
A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, "What Are all those clocks?"
St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie, the hands on your clock will move."
"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"
"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that She never told a lie."
"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"
St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have Moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire Life."
"Where's Hillary Clinton's clock?" asked the man.
"Hillary's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

I am not necessarily in touch with the mindset of the troops. but is it possible that the number one preference might be to get the hell out of their and let the Iraqi's settle their civil war? By the Way, love ya Brandy! Especially your hair!!!!!
Right, but the way you phrase your questions and the language you use makes it sound like this is how you feel also. Now read your post one more time. Your post implies that the number one preference is for ALL THE TROOPS to pull out of Iraq. You aren't talking about each individual soldier feeling homesick and wanting to come home. But your reply to me speaks of the latter of the two.
These soldiers, as much as they miss their families, have an objective, one objective, and that is to make sure you and I are safe and free from all the bad things you see happening from terrorism all around the globe and not here. Those guys and gals may not want to be there but they know it's the right thing to do. They've been educated on the repercussions of a civil war and are working to prevent them and also to make sure those who have already perished have not done so in vain. And if spending a couple of years individually in the Middle East is what it takes, they are willing to make that sacrifice. GOD BLESS EM!!! HOOOAAAHHH!! See? Now you got me wanting to enlist!!
It's just like me with work. I really don't want to be hear but I know there's a reason why I'm here. Just kidding, Mr. Hanson!!!
So yes, I do agree with your reply that in their minds they are wishing to be home. But I also know in their hearts they know they need to finish what they have started, as my brother said. And that's why you'll very rarely if ever hear a soldier tell you we should pull out and let Iraq go to hell.
Great dialogue!! Very much appreciated!! You have a great weekend as well!!

Steve, My comment makes no reference to my preference, just the preference of the young men in the middle east. However, are you implying that there are folks who would prefer to be at war versus being at home with thier loved ones? I guess I can imagine that to be the mindset of a few mercenaries around the world but I have some difficulty attributing that to many. Certainly the troops should be proud of the successful efforts happening, but celebrating success may not mean they prefer to be at war. Does that clarify my thinking in this regard for you? Have a great weekend!
Touche'...check....and mate. I knew Kingfish was going to have a steeltrap mind.
Of course it is Steve's turn to counter should he choose to do so....and I see several openings here.
Please be assured that my comments are absolutely NOT to minimize the importance of the service of our young people, but rather to underscore the importance of sharing the logical thought processes behind the various perspectives of those of us whom feel strongly about the approach we (USA) should, or should not take regarding this emotionally charged subject.
We are all going to learn something from the postings on this site.
Kingfish... have you ever heard a soldier talk about going back to Iraq to take care of unfinished business. Now I know many people think of "unfinished business" as going back and killing terrorists, etc. But the truth is, many of the troops are involved in much more than just shooting. Do the troops prefer to be in Iraq over being with family? Of course not. Do the troops have a connection with the people in Iraq? Absolutely. Are they willing to leave their families for such a cause that they themselves can't quite put it into words? You bet. These kids are incredible.
Do you really think leaving Iraq right now is the answer? I guess I trust the military's assesment on that decision over any politician. And our next president, Mccain will be sure to take the military's advice as to whether Iraq is able to handle the war on their own.

Thanks kingfish! I will NEVER forget that! HA the good ol days...........as far as the military I have to wonder if they all knew what it was going to be like for this long if they still would of enlisted. But your right no one was drafted. Oh and we should change the "For all us Republicans" thread head as not everyone of us are Republicans..............or may be I am in the wrong thread! LOL
Kingfish, That may be YOUR number one preference, but I can guarantee that's NOT the number one preference of many of our troops over there. In fact, I've asked several that have returned and the majority tell of great success stories. Stuff that CNN, ABC, NBC, etc.. never cover.

Our troops in Iraq are an entirely volunteer force. I am certain that they would prefer a commander-in-chief who has combat experience. That pretty well narrows it down to one person, Senator John McCain.
Volunteer?? Last time I checked every American soldier is being paid.

Volunteer force means that no one was drafted. That means everyone in the U.S. military enlisted by their own free will, with the full knowledge that they may very likely be deployed to a combat zone at least once during their term of enlistment.

Finally, one for us Republicans. All the Bushisms and Bush comedy takes is getting a little tiring . Speaking of Osama, what did the soldier in Iraq say to Hilliary's daughter after being asked what his three biggest fears were, answer: Osama, Obama, and yo momma.
It's an old joke but I had to add that as my contribution .
