I think Obama was already here. Of course, I didn't pay much attention if he was so I really am not sure.

Me too jibslider. As much as my significant other dislikes it, I guess I really am a democrat. We joke that we may as well not vote because we totally cancel each other out. Unless we are talking guns and abortion - those are issues we agree on.
Obama really intrigues me more than anything. Maybe partially because he is younger and doesnt seem like the same-old same-old politician type. Both Obama and Clinton were both just in Missoula. It was quite an experience I've heard (I wasnt able to attend the rallies). Are there any plans for them to visit NoDak?

We actually do not seem to have determined who or how many there are of each, on this forum, just that it only seems to be the more conservatives who are posting...if you are liberal....that's great. If you are something else...well I reserve judgement on that one til we hear your positions on more stuff...
Thanks Randy. To be honest with ya, I think the ones that post the most on this site pretty much all hold the same opinions politically. That's why you aren't seeing as much discussion because we'd all be preaching to the choir.

Well so much for talking politics? I know I sound like a broken record sometimes....but talk is cheap. I am simply trying to stimulate some discsussion and debate.....I am no big fan of B. Obama, but he has at least said one thing I truly agree with....
"We (mostly the new generation) are the ones we have been waiting for".....and I think that Larry Larsen, to his credit, has also referred to this statement on-line at least once. I still wish he would come over and play with us.

It would sure bring in new blood on a regular basis.....Don't the Jaycees have some sort of age limit similar to a term limit concept? It's not like we were re-inventing the wheel....

I'm all for term limits. Unfortunately, many people vote on name familiarity. I'm not sure why, but it seems people assume the longer the term in office, the more experience. But I question, more experience at what? More experience in learning politics or the more experience at working for the people. Unfortunately, I think it's not the latter.
Funny you bring that up. I was just talking to someone at the bank this morning about that. There's a reason they have them on a bigger scale. Why not do the same on the smaller scale.
Problem is...retirement packages aren't quite the same.

What do you guys think about the concept of term limits? Locally, I mean.
I served three full terms on the Williston Park Board, and held several other State and National elected positions in other things, and after 15 years of this stuff, I think I could speak to the issue a little bit.
If not term limits, then a minimum of consecutive terms?
I'm guessing my political stance doesn't coincide with most of Williston's current residents.
